In Memory of David P. Brown
David P. Brown, 73, formerly of Cumru Township, passed away March 23, 2021, at the Lutheran Home at Topton.
His wife Judy E. (Loose) Brown, died on June 27, 2017. They married on September 23, 1972.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Paul Harrison and Florence (Kessler) Brown.
He was a 1966 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School.
David was a member of St. John's Reformed Church, Sinking Spring.
He was employed in accounting at Dana Corporation for 5 years. Later he worked for Med-Ed/GPU Energy for over 30 years in the same capacity. He was also employed part-time as a West Reading police officer for over 30 years and as a Pennsylvania State Constable since 1998.
Active in the community through participation in Pennsylvania Junior Miss, Outstanding Young Woman, Greater Governor Mifflin League, and the Pennsylvania Constable Association, David enjoyed working and dedicating his life to service above self.
Dave served the Berks County Chiefs of Police Association on the special events committee. He worked tirelessly on the Clambake, Police Expo bus trip and other events for many years. He was tireless in obtaining door prizes. In 2020 the Association conferred Life membership for his service.
David is survived by two children: Matthew P. Brown, Spring Twp., and Katie L., wife of Ryan Schneck, Green Lane; Four grandchildren, Eva, Bear, Rose and Max Schneck; several nieces and nephews, and many friends also survive him.
He was predeceased by his sister, Sandra Kirk.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 27, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Reformed Church, 4001 Penn Ave, Reading, PA 19608. Burial will follow in Laureldale Cemetery. Friends and family may call Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the services in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Reformed Church at the above address or the Pennsylvania Constable Association, 2601 N Front St, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Edward J.
